Because I had only got a road bike at the end of 2006, I had to get started on some serious cycle training.

My cycle training actually started in September 2006, when I took my newly acquired £50 second hand road bike out for a ride. This turned out to be a 110 mile ride to Cheddar Gorge and then around to Longleat House and back past the Westbury White Horse. Not bad for a first 'proper' ride.
The winter curtailed my rides, but I bought a new Lemond Etape bike in January from Johns Bikes in Bath, for getting between the 3 Peaks.
In April, I started cycling into work once a week which is about 25 miles each way, but as the days got longer I extended my rides home, so was doing a 60-70 mile round trip a week.
On the days that I did not cycle into work I took my bike in and did rides of between 10 and 17 miles at lunchtime
I also started doing occasional Chippenham Wheeler Time Trials. Some of these were done as part of my cycle home from work.
At the end of April I did the White Horse Challenge with Chris. This is a 150km ride around some of the White Horses in Wiltshire, crossing into Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
In May I started to cycle into work twice a week, in fact from the beginning of April my cycling mileage was normally >100 miles/week.
